UNITY DAY at BMS

Unity DayUnity Day

It was wonderful to see the halls a sea of orange today as we celebrated Unity Day 2022!

Students and staff showed their commitment to creating a kind, accepting and supportive community at BMS.  No bullies here folks!

BMS STUDENT COUNCIL FOOD DRIVE

“You have never really lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” – Mother Teresa

The BMS Student Council would like to thank everyone for an amazing food drive!  This year was, by far, the largest BMS donation every.  We collected over 2,300 items for donation to the local food pantry at the Church of the Messiah.

Thank you!

Wolf Day 2021

On Friday, November 19th our sixth grade students participated in a virtual "Wolf Day" with the Wolf Conservation Center on Friday. Students spent the morning in our classrooms participating in a webinar on the history, ecology, and biology of wolves in North America. Then, they completed a writing task that required them to make connections between the content of the webinar and what they have been learning about wolves and conservation in their ELA classes.  In the afternoon, the students were brought to the auditorium to participate in a virtual field trip which allowed them to get a more personalized experience with the wolves of the center. The educator ended with really inspiring thoughts on how our students can help with conservation and make a difference, even at their age.  The students were so engaged in the experience. We hope to bring students to the actual center in future years when that becomes a possibility again

Madagascar Day 2021

Lemurs Embroidery

This year on October 22nd our BMS students stepped outside of their comfort zone.  They worked with local artists and educators to learn about Madagascar and create based on that learning.  Our students developed plays based on climate change, made paper, taught Malagasy dance, installed art pieces in town, and met lemurs. The past 18 months have been difficult for our students and to see them come out on our annual Madagascar Day and create things as they did was truly inspiring.  We are thankful for all of the organizations that supported this incredible day, including Rhinebeck Science Foundation, Zara Aina, Educational Network for Teachers and Artists, and CultureConnect.

Celebrating School Related Professionals 2021

SRP Recognition Day is a special day to recognize and honor the hard-working professionals who are the hidden heroes in a student's education.

Super hero images were posted in each building and students and faculty left notes of thanks to all the non-instructional staff.  It was tons-o-fun and the SRPs felt appreciated.
